Explore Female Genital Aesthetics in Nashville, TN
Once considered a taboo topic, female genital aesthetics is becoming a popular area of focus for women, and has been one of the fastest growing fields of cosmetic procedures nationwide. Dr. Amaka Nwubah is happy to offer vaginal rejuvenation at Nashville’s Maxwell Aesthetics.
Dr. Amaka received unique training in female genital aesthetics during her yearlong aesthetic fellowship. Her vaginal rejuvenation offerings include vaginoplasty (surgical tightening of the vagina), labiaplasty (surgery to remove redundant tissue of the inner vaginal lips or outer lips, and a clitoral hood reduction), and G-Spot enhancement (placing filler into the area of maximum stimulation and sensitivity of the anterior vagina).
What is Vaginoplasty for Vaginal Rejuvenation?
With age, and after pregnancy, the vaginal tissues stretch and become more loose/lax. This may lead to women having trouble feeling their partner during intercourse and also decreases the ability to attain vaginal stimulation. Additionally, the lack of tone of the vaginal “sphincter” can lead to trouble with urinary incontinence and occasionally constipation. Women who seek vaginal rejuvenation via vaginoplasty generally seek to restore their pre-birth vaginal form and function. Complaints of women who are candidates for vaginoplasty include vaginal looseness, sagging of the vulva, pelvic prolapse/leaking, decreased sexual satisfaction, and unappealing appearance.
A vaginoplasty is a surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure where Dr. Amaka surgically tightens the vaginal tissues in order to restore the natural youthful anatomy and improve sexual satisfaction. This procedure can be done in the office or under general anesthesia in the operating room, depending on your preference. The procedure generally takes two to three hours depending on complexity. Patients go home the same day.
You are able to return to work in two to three weeks, depending on the nature of your work. You will be advised to limit your activity and remain on modified bed rest for five days. You will be restricted from heavy lifting and intercourse for six weeks after this vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Discomfort is generally relieved by pain medication and pelvic rest. The vaginal region heals extremely well, and thus the resultant scar is imperceptible.
What is Labiaplasty for Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Generally, women seek vaginal rejuvenation via labiaplasty for one or more these reasons:
- dislike of the appearance of the inner lips (labia minora) extending beyond the outer lips (labia majora)
- labia feel too bulky, leading to a limit in the wear of form-fitting or revealing clothing
- active women and athletes whose labia rub with biking and/or running
- bulky labia leading to frequent yeast infections and itching
- a lack of sexual confidence due to the appearance of the labia
- bulkiness of labia interferes with sexual activity
Labiaplasty is a surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure to remove redundant tissue of the labia minora, labia majora, or around the clitoris.
Labiaplasty takes about one to two hours to complete and can be done in the clinic with the patient under local anesthesia or in a fully accredited operating room with the patient under general anesthesia. Patients go home the same day. You are able to return to work in one week, depending on the nature of your job. You will be advised to limit your activity and remain on modified bed rest for three to five days. You will have to avoid heavy lifting and intercourse for six weeks. Medication and pelvic rest can help to manage discomfort. The labia region heals extremely well, so scars from the vaginal rejuvenation surgery are very difficult to see.
Labiaplasty of the labia majora will sometimes include liposuction as well, depending on your individual anatomy, where a combination of liposuction and surgical excision of tissue are used in concert to attain balance.
What is Labial Volume Enhancement for Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Age and genetics can both contribute to a flattened, thin appearance of the labia majora. Dr. Amaka offers two types of labial volume enhancement for vaginal rejuvenation: with fat obtained through liposuction, and also with filler. Both can be done in the office under local anesthesia.
Labial Filler Placement
Placement of dermal fillers into the labia for volume enhancement takes 30 to 60 minutes. The effect with dermal fillers is temporary and lasts six months to one year. You are able to go to work the next day following vaginal rejuvenation with filler. You are kept on pelvic rest for two weeks and are restricted from heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for one week.
Volume enhancement with filler is not a permanent vaginal rejuvenation solution and will need to be repeated for desired effect every nine months to one year.
Labial Fat Grafting
Labial fat grafting involves transfer of fat from undesired areas into the labia. Liposuction is used to obtain fat for grafting, so this vaginal rejuvenation procedure can be done in a fully accredited operating room under general anesthesia for patients who prefer that option.
If you choose labial fat grafting, you will be able to go to work after three to five days—or sooner, if you are no longer taking oral pain medicine. Swelling is common after this vaginal rejuvenation procedure and typically resolves with time.
Volume enhancing vaginal rejuvenation with fat is typically long lasting, although it may occasionally need to be repeated depending on the body’s resorption rate of the transferred fat. After labial volume enhancement, you are recommended to rest your pelvis (including intercourse) for two weeks.
What is G-Spot Enhancement?
The G-spot refers to an area in the anterior vagina that can be stimulated for vaginal arousal in some women. It is usually one to three inches in the vagina past the vaginal opening. Not all women have a “G-spot” and not all women experience arousal vaginally.
For G-spot enhancement, Dr. Amaka will examine you and determine with you the location in your vagina of maximal sensitivity. She will then introduce filler into this area. This is done in the office, using local anesthesia. Mild spotting is normal, and you will be given a pad to wear for the first four to six hours. The results are temporary (usually two to four months), though the effect time varies in patients.
You may go to work the next day and sexual intercourse is okay 24 hours following the injection. There are no restrictions after this point.
